AYLUS Garden City Volunteers Support Friends of the Garden City Library 10/9/2026

AYLUS Garden City volunteers, Luis, Daniel, and Michael  worked with the Friends of the Garden City Library to organize the donation drive database and classify and catalog books donated to the library on 10/9/2026, 3pm-4:45pm.

During the activity, students used their computer and technology skills to help process donated books. They photographed individual books, used an app to look up book prices, and sorted the books based on the information collected. They also helped organize the donation drive database, contributing to a more efficient system for tracking and managing donated books.

This hands-on activity allowed students to apply digital tools and organizational skills to a real community need. By helping classify and catalog donated books, the volunteers supported the Friends of the Garden City Library in managing its collection and reaching more readers throughout the greater Garden City community.

This activity is part of an ongoing collaboration between AYLUS Garden City and the Friends of the Garden City Library. Through this partnership, students can contribute their time and technical skills to support local library services while developing computer literacy, attention to detail, information management, and teamwork.
