AYLUS Great Neck Branch Volunteers at Kings Point Park (74th) (10/4/2026)

AYLUS Great Neck Branch Adapts to Rainy Weather for Kings Point Park Trail Clearance

On October 4, 2026, the AYLUS Great Neck Branch gathered at Kings Point Park from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm for another trail maintenance session. Rain began falling around 12:20 pm, but the persistent weather did not dampen the volunteers’ dedication to the park.

To adapt to the conditions, the group skipped their usual break, working straight through the afternoon to wrap up the project safely and efficiently ahead of schedule. While trail work had been temporarily paused due to recent rainy weather, park staff had already begun clearing portions of the paths. However, numerous large tree branches remained scattered throughout the area. The volunteers focused their energy on gathering these heavy, fallen branches and clearing them off the pathways.
Removing these hazards helps ensure the trails remain safe, clear, and accessible for park visitors and staff vehicles. Despite the rain, the team demonstrated great resilience, camaraderie, and commitment to the AYLUS mission of hands-on community service.
