On Saturday, October 3rd, from 3:45 – 5:00 PM, members of the Great Neck AYLUS branch hosted an AAPI event for kids at the Great Neck Main Library. The activities that were held at this event included story reading and arts & crafts such as origami, crochet, and puppet making. Three volunteers—Nathan Li, Jolynn Li, and Jiangyuan Yu—read three story books to the audience; “Queen of Physics”, “Fortune Cookie Fortunes”, and “Two New Years”.
After reading, volunteers Rebecca Xu, Rainie Cheng, and Victoria Xu taught the children to string bracelets. And Andrew Li and Nathan Li taught the kids to make penguin Oragami. Meanwhile, Jolynn Li, Christina Pan, and Jiangyuan Yu taught the kids to make puppets. Overall, this was an enjoyable session, and we thank those who attended and look forward to the next event.
