Every life cycle begins with a seed—and much of human history does as well. The development of agriculture transformed the way people lived, allowing communities to settle, produce reliable food supplies, and eventually build civilizations. By planting and cultivating seeds, we can explore not only how a plant grows, but also how humans learned to work with the natural world across generations.
Through the local History Museum, Brian helped visitors experience this connection firsthand. Through activities such as planting seeds, observing the tomato life cycle, exploring the historic garden, and learning how food travels from the soil to the table, visitors followed the stages of plant growth while considering the broader history of agriculture and food production.
The program offered a simple but meaningful way to understand that every harvest—and many chapters of human civilization—can be traced back to the planting of a single seed.
