As part of the AYLUS Glen Head Branch community service program, we participated in a community park cleanup project to help protect the local environment and keep our shared public spaces clean, safe, and welcoming.
During the activity, we worked together to collect litter and recyclable materials throughout the park and surrounding areas. We carefully picked up discarded plastic bottles, cans, paper, food wrappers, and other types of litter from the ground and public areas. Special attention was given to collecting plastic bottles and other recyclable materials so they could be properly sorted and recycled rather than left in the environment.
We worked responsibly and cooperatively, taking care to handle and dispose of the collected waste safely. Through teamwork and hands-on service, we helped improve the appearance of the park, reduce litter, and prevent plastic waste and other pollutants from negatively affecting the local environment.
This project also provided an opportunity for us to promote awareness of environmental protection and the importance of reducing waste, recycling, and maintaining clean public spaces. Even small actions, such as picking up a discarded plastic bottle or properly disposing of a piece of litter, can make a meaningful difference when community members work together.
AYLUS Glen Head Branch is committed to encouraging young people to take an active role in serving their community and protecting the environment. Through projects like this, we not only contribute to a cleaner and healthier community but also develop a stronger sense of responsibility, teamwork, and environmental stewardship.
