Day 3 of the CRAB Biology Summer Camp happened on Wednesday, 8/26/26, starting on time at 2:30 pm EST. Lecture 3 was one of the more condensed lectures, combining Metabolism (Specifically Cellular Respiration + Photosynthesis) along with cell division. Teachers went in depth about the steps of Cellular Respiration and Photosynthesis, along with the processes behind cell division. From the previous day, a student asked in the anonymous form if it was alright that they missed Lecture 1. To answer this, Isabelle and Zoe reassured the class that most of the lectures could be understood independently of each other. However, if any student encountered an issue, they could ask straight away by private messaging either teacher.
Teacher Zoe Li opened the lecture with an overview of Metabolism, then diving into what Cellular Respiration was and going into detail about the specific steps that happened (Glycolysis, Krebs Cycle, Oxidative Phosphorylation). Isabelle Yang then continued the lecture with an overview of photosynthesis, going into the two phases (Light Reactions and Calvin Cycle) and covering the different processes that happened. Both topics were concluded with an engaging video summary, and several multiple choice questions students could answer in the chat. For the last part of the lecture, cell division, Isabelle covered chromosomes and meiosis, while Zoe went over the cell cycle and mitosis.
The lecture was 101 slides, and ended on time after 1 hour 30 minutes. Again, the class concluded with a Quizizz game with 5 participating students, as the game went into overtime (after 4:00 pm). 10 students attended the lecture, and there were 8 participating students (Chloe, Ethan, Faye, Jayden, Julie, Phoebe, Roy, Tammy).
From the anonymous feedback form, 100% of students thought our voices were clear, and 100% answered that they could answer most of the questions and that they were given just the right amount of time. 75% answered that the information in the lecture was helpful, while 25% answered that only some of it was. Overall, Day 3 of the CRAB Biology Summer Camp was a success, with no issues or malfunctions in the class. After class, copies of the lecture and a recording of the lecture was sent out to interested students.
