This Saturday, we all volunteered at the Richardson Feed My Starving Children location and signed up for the packing team. We worked at table 1 scooping the rice, vitamins, soy, and vegetables while others packed the rice, weighed it, and sealed it. We met so many new people which was super important to be sure that we continued filling as many boxes as we could.
It was backbreaking work, and many of us swapped our jobs to continue supporting each other but worth it for the 47 kids in Africa that we fed for an entire year! We sang to music and participated in different competitions–winning second for the sealing competition with 30 bags!
Our group packed way more than average, with 31 boxes at our table. Even though the work was tedious, we maintained a positive attitude and continued humming to 2010’s throwback songs. We packed 17,496 meals with a cost of 5,073.84 dollars.
Towards the end, we helped clean up and sweep the floors, cleaned the tables, and worked together to finish one last box (since we went on a Saturday!). Finally, we ended the night off with a prayer and blessed the food and the children that would be receiving it!
Overall, the night was extremely rewarding as usual and filled with lots of joy and good spirit as we put in everything we got to help make someone else’s day a little bit better!
