SMILE 4 Special Needs (#293): Volunteers Support LSA SMILE Summer Camp (#148) on Aug. 14, 2026

On Friday, August 14, 2026, volunteers assisted the staff at the 2026 LSA Summer SMILE Camp, held at the Special Needs Caring Center. The volunteers helped create a welcoming, supportive, and enjoyable environment for campers with special needs by participating in activities designed to encourage creativity, self-expression, confidence, and social interaction.

The class included an exciting bucket drumming and drawing lesson for all participants. Volunteers served as assistant instructors, demonstrating the activities, providing individual guidance and encouragement, and assisting campers throughout the lessons. Through bucket drumming, campers explored rhythm, music, and coordination while participating together as a group. The drawing activity encouraged creativity and self-expression, allowing each camper to create artwork in a fun and supportive setting.

The volunteers contributed a total of 6 hours as Assistant Instructors, working closely with the camp staff to ensure every camper could participate comfortably and successfully. Their patience, enthusiasm, and positive encouragement made the activities meaningful and memorable for everyone involved.

Assistant Instructors (6 hrs): Sean Luan, Grace Wu, Gloria Zhang, Joshua Meng
