On Saturday, August 8, 2026, the AYLUS Twin Cities Branch held Session 7 of our free Chinese, Art & Math Summer Workshop from 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the Excelsior Library Meeting Room (337 Water Street, Excelsior, MN 55331).
In the Chinese class, students learned the traditional Chinese legend Meng Jiangnü Crying Over the Great Wall. We followed the story, learned key vocabulary, and reinforced their learning through a fun word-search activity. During Art, students practiced drawing cartoon characters inspired by video games and animated shows with guidance from the student instructors. In Math, they reviewed regrouping for multi-digit addition and borrowing for multi-digit subtraction, preparing for the upcoming school year.
The students were enthusiastic and actively engaged throughout the afternoon. By organizing and leading the workshop, our volunteers continued to develop their leadership and organizational skills while providing younger students with opportunities to learn Chinese language and culture, explore creativity, and strengthen their math skills.
