On July 30th and 31st, AYLUS Twin Cities hosted a Chess Workshop at the R.H. Stafford Library for beginner and intermediate players. The workshop consisted of a practice day for beginners and a friendly tournament where players of all levels could learn from each other. Zachray Li, as the instructor, taught skills and strategies like skewers, forks, endgames, and mates, such as the Fool’s mate or Scholar’s mate. All the participants had fun, learned something new, and were able to play chess in a competitive, but friendly environment!
Continuing our tradition of summer workshops, now with expanded access across the Twin Cities Metro, proves beneficial to increasing our reach, influence, and impact to students looking for free summer programs. We hope to continue developing this program, as well as offerings during the school year.
Hours: Zachray Li (9), Hannabella Li (8)
