On Thursday, August 13th, from 9 to 1, we members of the AYLUS Roslyn Branch volunteered at NOSH Delivers!, a local nonprofit that helps get food to families who need it. When we got there, the staff welcomed us and went over what we’d be doing that day. We kicked things off by cutting fresh corn to get it ready for distribution. After we finished up with the produce, we moved on to organizing school supplies. We packed backpacks into boxes and sorted them into three different categories for different groups: senior bags, universal bags, and bags for 3rd to 5th graders. Once everything was packed up, we loaded the boxes straight into cars so they were all set for delivery.
All in all, it was a really great experience—we ended up helping hundreds of people, which felt awesome.
