On the 10th of August, 2026, AYLUS Lake Washington members Elissa Song and Xingchen Song volunteered at the Restore Habitat at Evans Creek Preserve event with the City of Sammamish. They helped cut and unroot blackberry plant overgrowth, got rid of surrounding weeds, transported mulch, and layered mulch on top of derooted areas in order to ensure the invasive species’ didn’t regrow. They agree and acknowledge that this was an excellent opportunity to help out in the community and contribute positively to the environment. They volunteered for three hours, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
