On June 23th, Great Neck AYLUS hosted another successful tutoring session at the Great Neck Library Station Branch from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. To begin with, Brian helped a 6th-grade student with his personal coding projects. Reviewing his code, debugging it, and finding new solutions to the errors they encountered. It was rather refreshing for him to teach coding. Next, Summer and Linzi worked together to help a younger student transition from reading to vocabulary learning. Together, the three of them explored entry-level story books and learned important vocabulary for reading and writing to improve their English literacy for their studies later on. Lastly, Olivia and Junlin worked together to help another student with English. This time, focusing solely on writing and improving the student’s ability to analyze text, capture the theme the text conveys, and convince us, the readers, of the author’s writing, why the author uses such varied techniques to make it more persuasive. Overall, it was another excellent tutoring session; all the students completed their work at a fast pace, and everyone had a great time. The tutoring sessions will continue on Thursday, June 25th.
