Summer Prealgebra Camp Online Office Hours

AYLUS Gainesville Branch — June 9th – June 12th, 2026

The AYLUS Gainesville Branch worked together with the Frazer School Summer Prealgebra Camp Online Office Hours program at The Frazer School from June 9 to June 12, 2026, as an independent community partner dedicated to educational outreach. Volunteers Daniel Wei and Jolie Huang contributed a total of 6.25 hours of free service through after-class office hours, providing additional academic support to prealgebra camp participants. During these sessions, the AYLUS volunteers worked closely with rising 4th through 9th grade students who sought extra help with challenging concepts covered during the day’s lessons. The volunteers answered questions, reviewed problem-solving strategies, clarified mathematical concepts, and provided individualized guidance to strengthen students’ understanding and confidence. By offering one-on-one and small-group assistance, they helped ensure that every student had the opportunity to succeed regardless of their starting skill level.

Both volunteers dedicated varying amounts of time based on students’ needs during office hours through Zoom. Preparation time, including reviewing lesson materials, creating practice problems, and planning targeted assistance for students, was directly related to the content covered during office hours and was considered part of the volunteer service.

Through their commitment to mentorship and academic service, the volunteers helped create a supportive learning environment where students felt comfortable asking questions and developing stronger mathematical skills. This program continues to promote leadership, academic growth, and community service, core values of the AYLUS mission, while contributing to the educational development of Gainesville’s youth.
