Summer Prealgebra Camp
AYLUS Gainesville Branch — June 9th, 2026 – June 12th, 2026
The AYLUS Gainesville Branch worked with the Frazer School Summer Prealgebra Camp at the Frazer School from June 9 to June 12, 2026, as an independent community partner supporting local youth education. Volunteers Daniel Wei and Jolie Huang each contributed 16 hours of free service to this program. During these sessions, the AYLUS volunteers provided hands-on instruction and daily support for rising 4th through 9th graders, making math concepts feel approachable and fun. The volunteers guided students through deep problem-solving skills, and rigorous exercises designed to strengthen logic and academic confidence.
Both volunteers each spent 4 hours per day over the 4-day camp helping middle schoolers at The Frazer School campus. Preparation time including problem-writing and organizing paper for each class was directly related to the math content and considered part of the volunteer service.
By sharing their skills as mathematicians and youth leaders, the volunteers helped inspire younger students to tackle tough mathematical challenges. This program continues to promote leadership, academic growth, and service, key values of the AYLUS mission, while enriching Gainesville’s educational community.
