On May 25, 2026, AYLUS Syosset joined other volunteers to assist NYS Park with protecting endangered Piping Plover nesting and foraging habitats during the military entertainment event and drone show. Throughout the evening, volunteers monitored the string fencing surrounding protected beach areas, helped guide visitors away from restricted zones, and informed attendees about the importance of preserving shorebird habitats while enjoying the festivities.
By helping guard sensitive nesting areas during a large public event, volunteers contributed to local wildlife conservation efforts and helped reduce disturbances to the endangered Piping Plover population. The experience emphasized environmental responsibility, teamwork, and community involvement while allowing the public to safely enjoy the evening entertainment and drone show over the Atlantic Ocean.
