On Sunday, May 17th, volunteers from the Alyus Therapeutic Skating Program gathered at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink for an afternoon of mentorship and skill-building for the young skaters. Today is the End of Year show for our skaters. From 1:30 o 2:30 p.m., each volunteer was so excited. We cheer the skaters. In the show they perform what we have been practicing all the time. They did really well. It was a successful show.
Through patient encouragement, the volunteers helped the skaters build the confidence to take risks safely. By the conclusion of the session, the progress was visible as the skaters can confidently demonstrate skills and skate independently. It was an inspiring and friendly event for both the participants and the volunteers.
