AYLUS Roslyn Lends Hands at AHRC BCCS Walk (1st) on May 3rd, 2026

On Sunday May 3rd, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., members of the AYLUS Roslyn branch volunteered at the first annual BCCS Walk to support the Brookville Center for Children Services.

When we arrived, volunteers helped to set up the equipment. We were then assigned to different stations: feeding animals, scavenger hunt, face painting and tattoos, arts/crafts, and farm refreshment stand.

We worked at the stations until the walk started and everybody left. The employees of BCCS were understaffed so when people started to come back from the walk, we all lined up next to the path to help cheer for them. We each took two pom-poms and waved them around to welcome everyone back. After that we went back to our respective stations for a while until the event ended. We then assisted in putting everything away by stacking signs together, moving the plants to a truck, packing up arts and crafts tools, etc.

It was a pleasant experience volunteering with the BCCS for their first annual walk. Working with the children that attended the event taught us kindness and compassion, as well as better social skills. This was a valuable experience where we learned many great lessons. We look forward to working with the BCCS on their next annual walk!
