On Saturday, February 28th, the AYLUS Houston branch returned to Katy Christian Ministries for another productive volunteer session. Our dedicated members focused on wiping dusty surfaces, putting books onto the proper shelves, and organizing the shoe racks for 3 hours in what turned out to be a busy but impactful day. We split into 2 groups to respectively focus on the shoes and books for the first half of the shift, and then we formed one group to wipe the dusty surfaces. We helped make the retail store much cleaner and more organized with our work, directly benefiting the small business and customer satisfaction.
We are wholeheartedly proud of our members for their dedication and hard work. Their teamwork and communication played an important role in making this shift productive, proving once again that critical community needs, whether from a small business or a local organization, are addressed with high engagement and responsiveness from youth volunteers. That day’s success bore fruit thanks to KCM’s approval for this shift and our volunteers’ contributions, and we extend our deepest gratitude to both of them.
We eagerly look forward to our next opportunity to continue serving at Katy Christian Ministries, whether it’s at a retail store, a food center, a community garden, a food pantry, or anywhere, continuing our objective to deliver a positive and impactful difference in the lives of those who truly need it the most.
Volunteers (3 hours): Ethan Guo, Yinan Shen, Mika Jiang, Yuexuan Han, Heofei Deng, Sherry Zhang
