AYLUS Roslyn helps out at a School of CCA of Long Island (97) on March 1st, 2026

On March 1st, 2026, the volunteers of the AYLUS Roslyn branch served as teacher assistants at the Chinese Cultural Association of Long Island from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. During this time, we supported the teachers and helped students through classroom activities.

As teacher assistants, our job is to ease teachers’ responsibilities and guide students throughout the class. After greeting our teachers and students, we hand outworksheets and help students unpack their bags. Throughout the class, we answer any questions, collect and hand out worksheets, and take the children to the restroom when needed. Overall, by taking on these tasks, we reduce the teacher’s workload and create a fun and engaging learning environment.

On this particular day, instead of having culture classes, the children celebrated the Lantern Festival (元宵节) through arts and crafts related to the holiday. With support from the TAs and teachers, children created their own paper bowls for tangyuan, glutinous rice balls symbolic of togetherness and family unity.

Overall, serving as teacher assistants allows us to gain valuable life experience, and our duties teach us responsibility, collaboration, and patience. Taking on the role and responsibilities of a teacher assistant strengthens our sense of compassion and teamwork.
