On March 1, 2026, from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM, Aylus Great Neck Branch volunteers participated in the Lunar New Year Celebration hosted by the Great Neck Chinese Association at Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink.
At 12:30 PM, AYLUS volunteers arrived at the ice rink with smiles on their faces, ready to volunteer and dedicate their time to supporting the Lunar New Year festivities. Volunteers immediately began preparing for the event by organizing materials, setting up activity tables, and arranging 200 thoughtfully prepared gifts to be distributed to children attending the celebration.
By 1:30 PM, ice rink performances began, adding excitement and energy to the event, while volunteers continued working diligently behind the scenes. They collaborated closely to ensure that all activity stations were fully prepared and welcoming for families and community members.
From 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, AYLUS volunteers proudly served the community by leading a variety of Lunar New Year–themed activities. These included guiding children in writing Chinese characters with traditional ink and paper, helping families create festive Chinese prints, crafting crocheted ornaments, cutting out traditional Chinese shapes and flowers, and distributing gifts to children to enhance the joyful and festive atmosphere.
Throughout the event, volunteers worked hand in hand, demonstrating strong teamwork, dedication, and cultural appreciation. Their efforts filled the rink with creativity, laughter, and joy, leaving lasting smiles on the children’s faces—and on the volunteers’ as well. By the end of the day, the celebration not only honored the Lunar New Year but also strengthened community bonds and fostered a sense of unity.
