On February 28th, 2026, from 3:45 to 5:10 PM, eight volunteers spent time reading and making arts and crafts with children. The volunteers present were Rainie Cheng, Andrew Li, Christina Pan, Catherine Tao, Rebecca Xu, Victoria Xu, Brian Zhang, and Amber Zhou. It was a very productive day, and the volunteers not only worked well but struck up conversations with the children, giving the room a sense of bustle. Amber, Christina, and Rebecca read the books The Butterfly Boy, Why We Eat Fried Peanuts, and The City of Dragons, respectively, teaching the children more about Asian American and Pacific Islander culture. Then, the children were given the option to do arts and crafts. Andrew taught the children how to do origami, specifically insects and arachnids, while Christina, Catherine, Rebecca, and Brian showed the children how to make different flowers out of clay. Rainie and Victoria also helped the children with crochet. Everyone was having fun and was focused on their tasks. As time quickly passed, the volunteers didn’t realize the program had gone past its scheduled time!
