On February 21, PROMIS/AYLUS Pearland co-hosted the 4th Pearland Lunar New Year Festival at the Pearland Recreation Center. As one of the largest community events in Pearland during the first quarter of the year, the festival drew tremendous support from the City of Pearland, the Light and Salt Association, and numerous local business sponsors.
Our youth volunteers played a central leadership role by designing and operating 10 cultural booths, including Chinese language, calligraphy and painting, Chinese chess, Mahjong, Western chess, a chopsticks ping pong challenge, herbal sachets, tuina (traditional Chinese therapeutic massage), folk music, and face painting.
They also managed food court sales featuring fried rice, spring rolls, fried noodles, and cotton candy. At the PROMIS/AYLUS Pearland fundraising booth, volunteers sold Lunar New Year plush ponies, pandas, and other festive-themed items. In addition, they welcomed guests at the entrance, directed parking, and served meals to fellow volunteers.
The event was a great success, welcoming an estimated 2,000–3,000 guests and bringing the community together in celebration.
