San Diego Branch hosted the 65th Pacific Highlands Ranch Library Bookstore Event on February 21, 2026

Reported by Katherine Backues

Public libraries are invaluable community institutions that merit both recognition and unwavering support. Our local public library, Pacific Highlands Ranch Library, recently opened on November 9, 2024. The new library is an 18,000 square foot building designed to fit the changing needs of a

modern neighborhood. It has a bookstore that needs our community’s volunteers’ help to run it.

Our AYLUS San Diego branch is dedicated to supporting our public library and community. Our volunteers played an active role by unpacking donated book boxes, organizing them on bookshelves, assisting customers with book selections and pricing, handling payments, and maintaining transaction records. All proceeds from the event were donated to the public library to help fund its programs.

On February 21st, 2026 the following three AYLUS Members volunteer in the event. Jonathan Xu and Kaixiang Ying got 2 volunteering hours, and Katherine Backues got 4 volunteering hours:
