AYLUS Roslyn Provides Food to Local Families Through NOSH Delivers Food Pantry (113th) on February 16, 2026

On Monday, February 16th, 2026, from 9:00AM to 1:00PM, the AYLUS Roslyn Branch volunteered with NOSH Delivers. NOSH Delivers is a food pantry in Glen Cove that strives to make sure families in need have access to food.

As soon as we arrived at NOSH, there were many tasks to do. There were many NOSH bags to be packed and Long Island Cares boxes to be sorted. First, we filled 250 NOSH bags with nonperishable food items such as canned vegetables, raisins and oats. After that task was completed, we brought over many boxes of produce like peppers, oranges and apples to be sorted from rotting fruits and vegetables. We organized the fresh fruit and vegetables into milk crates and either left them out for others to make NOSH bags the next day or put them in the farmers’ market for shoppers to pick up.

After this, Courtney gave us a new task. NOSH delivers had gotten a delivery of candy from Nassau Candy that she wanted to put into NOSH bags and also keep for the next day because Valentines day had recently passed. We had over 30 boxes of candy and because she wanted to put candy into each NOSH bag, we helped her calculate possible options of how much candy she wanted to put into bag and how much she wanted to keep. After doing some quick math, we decided to put two pieces of candy into each bag and we took the previously packed NOSH bags and put two pieces of candy into each bag. Finally, we finished the day up with stocking the shelves with items we had a surplus from.

Overall the work that we did today was very hands on and challenging at times, We enjoyed getting to know the other volunteers and we are excited to come back next time.
