On Saturday, February 7, from 1:00 to 4:00 AYLUS Roslyn volunteered at CP Nassau’s residents home.
We began the day by baking brownies for the residents and inviting them to help with the process. With supervision and assistance, the residents enjoyed mixing the ingredients and being part of the activity. The volunteers had a great time working alongside them and making sure everyone was included.
Once the brownies were in the oven, we started creating Valentine’s Day posters. The residents decorated their posters using the provided materials, expressing their creativity and excitement for the holiday. Volunteers assisted each resident individually, helping them with cutting, coloring, and decorating.
After the brownies finished baking and cooling, we shared them with the residents and enjoyed them together. Following this, we played card games with the residents. Each resident was paired with a volunteer, which helped encourage interaction, engagement, and friendly conversation. Everyone enjoyed the relaxed and fun atmosphere.
Overall, the volunteers were enthusiastic and supportive, and the residents were happy to participate in all the activities. The activities were enjoyable, interactive, and well-suited for the residents. We look forward to returning and spending more time with them in the future.
