AYLUS Great Neck Branch holds AAPI Event at the Main Library 44th (2/7/26)

On Saturday, Feb 7th, from 3:45-5:00, the AYLUS Great Neck Branch held an AAPI event at the Great Neck Main Library for the kids. Activities that occurred during this event consisted of reading and arts and crafts, such as crochet, building clay, origami and creative window paintings. The event started off with different volunteers reading aloud books to the kids. Rebecca, Jiangyuan Yu and Catherine each read a book for kids. After the reading section, the children had a choice of what activity they wanted to do. Rebecca, Andrew and Jiangyuan taught the kids how to fold paper stars and making different origami gadgets. Catherine, Rainie and Ashley volunteered at the 2 different craft activity tables. Chloe crocheted at another table. One table was for creative window clings making, where the volunteers showed the kids how to create window clings with the different colored sticky paints in a model. The other activity was Pom-pom collage where the volunteers taught the children how to decorate and fill the colors of a drawing with Pom-pom. Overall, the event was a fun and engaging experience for the kids and the volunteers both.
