Today, Thursday, January 15, 2026, Great Neck AYLUS held another tutoring session at the Great Neck Library Station Branch; where volunteers worked together to help students with a variety of subjects. Xingzhi Li focused on helping a student with fractions, breaking down problems step by step to make them easier to understand. Brian Zhang helped a student review the states of matter and also worked on lessons about Mesopotamia, explaining key ideas and making sure the student understood the material clearly. Ivy Li spent time helping a student with decimals Junlin Yu and Brendan Chen worked together with a student on ELA vocabulary as well as fractions and decimals, reviewing definitions, practicing examples, and reinforcing problem-solving strategies. Summer Lu helped a 8th-grader student with algebra and ELA skills—for example, reviewing how to solve linear equations step by step and practicing context clues to understand challenging vocabulary words. Through teamwork and patience, all students were able to better understand their topics and make progress on their work. Overall, it was a productive session, and everyone left with improved understanding and completed assignments.
