Garden City Park Annual Christmas Tree Lighting (2nd) on December 7th 2025

On Saturday, December 7th, from 6 to 7:30 pm, 3 members from the Roslyn branch of the AYLUS community volunteered in the christmas tree lighting at Garden City Park, in front of Citi Bank, in the King Kullen Shopping Center

When we first arrived, we heard inviting music. We found Mrs. Kate, from the GCP Civic Associations, and Tony, from the GCP Fire Dept. Mrs. Kate immediately recognized us from the last volunteering event and asked us to help her sell raffle tickets. The raffle tickets were used to help support the business in the town and for a chance to win gift cards from these businesses. One raffle ticket cost $5 and 5 raffle tickets cost $20. We went around saying, “One for five, five for twenty!” If someone was interested in participating, they would hand in money and we would rip off the amount of raffle tickets they wanted from the roll. Then, we would rip off the KEEP THIS COUPON tickets and hand them to them while placing the other tickets into the ticket box. While we were passing out the tickets, the town councilwoman, Christine Liu, recognized us from the AYLUS community and thanked us for helping out at this event. We felt so proud to represent the AYLUS community and we will continue to volunteer and help our community.

After a while, everyone started to gather around the tree to see it being lit up. The lights were spectacular! After the tree was lit, the raffle ticket winners were starting to be announced. Many people won and were so happy to accept their prizes.

We had a spectacular evening, and hope to find more opportunities to help our amazing community.
