Date: Friday, November 21st
Time: 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Location: Firefighter Park (52nd Event)
During the one-hour volunteer session, we organized and participated in a series of sports activities with local children, aiming to encourage physical exercise and enhance their social skills. We started with badminton, splitting the kids into small teams to foster teamwork and friendly competition. Afterwards, we switched to soccer, where we guided them to practice basic skills like passing and shooting, while emphasizing the importance of communication on the field. To keep the atmosphere lively, we ended with a game of tag, which allowed the children to interact freely, make new friends, and build confidence in social settings. Throughout the process, we actively engaged with each child, offering encouragement and helping those who were shy to join in, ensuring everyone felt included and had a great time.
This volunteer experience was incredibly rewarding and meaningful. Not only did we get to witness the children’s joy and growth as they opened up and collaborated with one another, but we also gained valuable insights into working with kids and the importance of community service. It taught us how to be patient, adaptable, and effective communicators, skills that will undoubtedly benefit us in future endeavors. We left the park feeling fulfilled, knowing that we had made a positive impact on the children’s day and contributed to their social development.
