On November 16th, between 1:30 and 5:00 pm, members of the Roslyn AYLUS Branch volunteered at Long Island (CCALI) at LIU.
–
All members were assigned to classrooms as TAs to assist the teacher during class time. Classrooms had multiple volunteers, depending on the classroom’s size, to better accommodate the class. Tasks included distributing worksheets, assisting with academic needs, managing classroom behavior, supporting students who needed extra guidance, and handling incidents such as spills or bathroom breaks. Once class ended, we brought the students to their respective culture classes. After class, we escorted students to their culture classes, then observed and assisted in other classrooms.

Serving as TAs significantly enhanced student focus and eased teacher workload, providing vital support through classroom management and academic assistance. These responsibilities also developed stronger TA-student relationships and fostered personal growth and maturity, despite the day’s demands.
