The AYLUS Morris Branch proudly partnered with Helping Hands for their 6th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, joining the community-wide effort to support local families during the holiday season. In the days leading up to the event, members of the Morris Branch worked together to organize a focused food collection campaign, encouraging volunteers and neighbors to donate essential Turkey, Ham and other perishable items. Thanks to the generosity of the community and the dedication of AYLUS youth volunteers, the branch successfully collected 48 pounds of food, including canned vegetables, totatos, onions, pantry staples, and other items requested by Helping Hands. On the afternoon of November 19, the team gathered once more to deliver the donations. At 3:30 PM, several members traveled to the designated drop-off location at the Chatham United Methodist Church, where Helping Hands hosts much of its outreach work. Volunteers carefully sorted the donated items and handed them over to the Helping Hands coordinators, ensuring everything was properly organized for distribution.
This collaboration highlights AYLUS Morris Branch’s ongoing commitment to meaningful community service and its mission to empower youth through leadership and volunteerism. By supporting Helping Hands, members contributed directly to a cause that provides warmth, comfort, and holiday support to families facing food insecurity. The partnership not only strengthened community connections but also allowed student volunteers to witness the immediate impact of their service. The Morris Branch hopes to continue participating in future drives and expand its involvement with local organizations dedicated to helping families in need.
