As a team of three volunteers, we worked together at the library to design and hand-draw bookmarks for children at the Plano Children’s Cancer Center. Each of us created unique and colorful bookmarks featuring cheerful images, positive messages, and fun themes aimed at lifting the spirits of young patients. In total, we drew 27 bookmarks.
Purpose & Impact
The goal of this project was to provide encouraging, handmade gifts that could brighten a child’s day and inspire a love for reading. These bookmarks served as small tokens of kindness and support from the community.
Reflection
At the start of the activity, we reviewed the responsibilities of our group leader and shared guidance from more experienced volunteers with newer ones before beginning the drawing. This structure helped us stay organized and work smoothly as a team.
This experience was both creative and meaningful. Working together allowed us to share ideas and support a great cause. We hope that these bookmarks bring comfort, joy, and a smile to the children who receive them.
