On Saturday, October 18th, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, volunteers from the AYLUS Great Neck decided to volunteer at Bethpage State Park. This beautiful place is known for its five world-class golf courses and also where many championships took place.  The park staff needed our help in upkeep and cleaning of the gardens. Each volunteer was given tools clear unwanted best such as invasive species and weeds. We were told to do this to make the rows of garden areas more aesthetically pleasing and to remove any invasive ivy that could potentially spread throughout the area. by removing weeds and invasive plants, we gave took out the competition for the actually desired plants. It is important to remember that they always grow back and to stay vigilant about removing them fully but pulling out the roots. This means the re-growing process will be slower and so the maintenance be easier.
