On the evening of September 27, 2025, ten members of our Frisco Plano branch volunteered at Russell Creek Playground in Plano for a fundraising event. We sold popcorn, cotton candy, lemonade, and snow cones. This was the first time we offered lemonade at this location, so we prepared just one gallon to test its popularity. To make it more appealing, we added fresh lemon slices.
The popcorn machine, tall and bright red like the ones you see in a movie theater, immediately caught my attention—it was the first time I had ever seen it. Jenny wrote down clear instructions and showed us how to use it. Soon, we were operating it smoothly, and the warm, buttery smell of popcorn began to fill the air.
As people gathered around our stand, sales picked up quickly. We sold out of lemonade faster than expected and even had to buy extra water to make more. Jenny and I took turns advertising, and I suggested handing out small samples of popcorn, which helped attract even more customers. Before long, all the popcorn was gone too.
By the end of the evening, we were thrilled with the results. Sales went so well that we decided to extend our shift by an extra 30 minutes. It was a rewarding experience, and we are grateful to all the driven, motivated, and hard-working volunteers who made this event possible.
