Event 76: AYLUS Morris Branch Partners with Local United Methodist Church for Food Drive in September 2025

On September 20 at 2:00 PM, the AYLUS Morris Branch partnered with a local United Methodist Church to organize a community food drive aimed at supporting families facing food insecurity. Through collective efforts and consistent outreach, the branch successfully gathered 52 pounds of non-perishable food, which was delivered directly to the church for distribution.

The project began with members recognizing the ongoing need for food donations in the community, particularly non-perishable goods that could provide sustained nourishment to individuals and families. To meet this need, AYLUS Morris members launched a collection campaign by spreading awareness among neighbors, friends, and local organizations. Flyers, word of mouth, and community outreach played a key role in ensuring that the initiative reached a wide audience and encouraged participation.

The donations included a variety of canned goods such as vegetables, beans, soups, and fruits, all chosen for their nutritional value and long shelf life. Members worked diligently to gather, sort, and weigh the contributions to ensure they met the needs of the church’s food distribution program. By engaging the community and encouraging even small individual donations, the branch demonstrated how collective efforts can quickly accumulate into a significant impact.

When the collection was complete, members personally delivered the 52 pounds of non-perishable food to the United Methodist Church on the afternoon of September 20. The church staff welcomed the donations with appreciation, noting how the contributions would help support their food pantry and outreach programs.

This initiative not only addressed immediate community needs but also strengthened the collaboration between youth volunteers and local faith-based organizations. By dedicating their time and effort, AYLUS Morris Branch members reinforced the values of service, compassion, and leadership, continuing their mission of uplifting the community through meaningful action.
