On Saturday September 6th, 2025, from 9:00AM to 12:00PM, the AYLUS Roslyn
Branch volunteered with NOSH Delivers. NOSH Delivers is a food pantry that started in Glen Cove to help increase the access to food for the north shore community.
At the food pantry, there were minimal customers today, so it would be a calm and relaxed day. Some members started out in the food pantry, unpackaging NOSH bags that weren’t picked up the day before. We replenished produce we were low on such as apples, cucumbers and squash as well as baked goods and milk. Some of our other volunteers headed outside to create KFIP bags. KFIP bags are brown paper bags filled with a breakfast or lunch meal that is decorated with materials such as stickers, gems, and markers. We saved the bags that our volunteers decorated and would use it another time where it was more busy. After we decorated lots of KFIP bags, we took a break and restocked the shelves with cans from a past delivery.
Finally, we ended the day with cleaning up outside and taking the chairs and tables inside. After these hours of volunteering, it has really improved our skills with communication and creativity as well as working with others. We are excited to volunteer next time and to come back with an even bigger smile!
