On 9/6/2025, On September 6, 2025, AYLUS volunteers traveled to Bethpage State Park to help filling small envelopes with a Mix of Native Wildflower seeds collected in the gardens here at Bethpage. It starts at 9am and ends at 11am.
At 9 a.m., volunteers arrived at the greenhouse, sat down at tables filled with seed pots, and began their work. Yes, we had to pause our weeding to pack seed packets for distribution during the Ryder Cup. Over 100 varieties of native seeds were mixed together, and volunteers grabbed a handful and placed them in a small envelope. The envelope was then sealed with a sticker. After that, the volunteers were putting all the seeds into the envelopes, and they put all of them into a large box. In the end, the volunteers packed more than 3,000 packets of seeds.
After the volunteers had packed all the envelopes, they began to fold the maps to prepare for the upcoming event. After completing all the tasks, the volunteers also learned some knowledge about the plants in the greenhouse. It was a very fulfilling activity.
