On August 26th, the Great Neck AYLUS Branch held a tutoring session where volunteers assisted students in a variety of subjects. Benjamin Ko helped a 5th grade student complete his English homework and later read a book with him to build comprehension skills. Ivy Li guided a student through state test practice work, carefully explaining math problems and strategies. Rebecca Xu read picture books to a younger student, using them to introduce new vocabulary, counting, and letters. Baiyu Chen worked with a 7th grade student to prepare her for next year’s math curriculum, ensuring she had a strong foundation. Emma Ding helped a newly immigrated student study for a placement math test, providing support and practice to build confidence. During the session, volunteers used patience and creativity to strengthen students’ understanding while fostering a comfortable learning environment. Both students and volunteers benefited from the event, reviewing past knowledge and gaining new skills. The Great Neck AYLUS Branch continues to uphold its mission of teaching in an encouraging and supportive setting.
