Murrieta AYLUS Volunteers at Habitat for Humanity Senior House Preservation #45– ABWK (8/16/2025)

On August 16th, 2025, AYLUS members volunteered with Habitat for Humanity to help paint the home of a local senior in need. This project was part of Habitat for Humanity’s mission to improve living conditions and bring comfort to community members through safe, well-maintained housing.

Before painting began, volunteers carefully prepared the work area. They taped off sections where different colors would be applied and covered the floors with tarps to prevent any paint stains. A supervisor provided a professional painting demonstration, explaining techniques to avoid “runs,” which become very noticeable once the paint dries. The supervisor also gave important safety instructions, such as how to properly use ladders, recognize and avoid uneven or hazardous spots, and work efficiently as a team.

Due to the hot weather, mandatory breaks were scheduled to ensure everyone stayed hydrated and safe while working under the sun. These breaks provided an opportunity for volunteers to rest, cool down, and recharge before resuming their tasks.

Members worked collaboratively—some focusing on detailed trim work with brush, others painting larger wall sections with rollers, and a few assisting with moving supplies and maintaining the work area. The teamwork, dedication, and attention to detail resulted in a beautifully refreshed home, leaving the senior homeowner deeply grateful for the care and effort put into the project.
