Greater Tulsa Branch volunteers with Asbury Second Saturday on August

Reported by Kaiting Hsu & Amanda Weng

On Saturday, August 9th, the AYLUS Greater Tulsa Branch once again volunteered at Asbury Church’s second Saturday volunteer event.

Instead of volunteering as one group like previous events, we split into two groups and helped with two different volunteer events.

The first group continued creating homeless mats from crocheting pieces of recycled plastic bags that were tied together.

The second group helped out at Tulsa Dream Center’s Back to School Splash event. This event featured fun activities like splash pads, foam pits, water slides, face painting as well as provided essential resources such as free school supplies, backpacks, haircuts, and food. This gave us one last chance to enjoy the end of summer while preparing for the school year with communities in need. We enjoyed helping out in various areas of the event and seeing kids enjoy the event was very fulfilling.

Youth Volunteers (8:00-12:00): Amanda Weng, Dannis Weng, Yuxuan Li, Virginia Li, Komiko Fry, Kaiting Hsu, Daniel Huo, Kai McDaniel, Freddie Cai, Edwin Cai.
