AYLUS Great Neck Branch helps set up at Michael J. Tully Park 8/19/25

On August 19th, from 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM, volunteers at AYLUS gathered at Michael J. Tully Park to help set up booths and tents to prepare for the upcoming Italian Festival.

We met up with other workers who had come to help set up everything for the festival. Our initial assignment was to move tables and set up a tent. We carried tables to their designated spots, and soon after, a tent was set up near the entrance of the park, which we then weighed down with sandbags to prevent the tent from possibly falling over or flying away from strong winds. Through ample amounts of teamwork, the tent was successfully set up.

Afterwards, our goal was to untangle and sort through various extension cords, as well as connect a series of extension cords to be hooked up to a power generator. Volunteer Jiangyuan Yu was tasked with hooking up a series of extension cords to reach the power generator while volunteers Jinru Xie and Peilin Li assisted with connecting the extension cords as well as further sorting of other extension cords.

Through this volunteering session, the AYLUS volunteers had valuable experiences and improved their ability to work and communicate as a team. We at AYLUS hope that the community will enjoy the festival!
