On August 7, 2025 from 3:30-5:30PM , AYLUS Bellaire volunteered at a self-organized Back2School school supply drive & giveaway at Longfellow Elementary School. This event was organized three weeks prior to the event, to host the school supply drive on Longfellow’s student “meet the teacher” day. Supplies were sourced and bought from online retailers to supply over 140 students who were in need of proper materials to support their education.
On the day of the event, AYLUS members arrived at Longfellow Elementary at 3:30 PM, 1 hour before students entered the school to organize the supplies and backpacks. AYLUS members guaranteed that each student received ample amounts of supplies such as 6 pencils, a pack of crayons, a pen, erasers, pencil sharpeners, glue sticks, a composition notebook, folder, as well as a pencil bag and backpack to store all the supplies. All backpacks were organized and filled before students entered the building.
AYLUS members proceeded to create a station where backpacks could be given to students as they entered. AYLUS members made sure to encourage students to come and take a backpack, as well as asking them what color backpack they would like. At 5:30 PM, the end of the event, all 144 backpacks were given out.
