Volunteers at AYLUS helped with landscaping efforts at Kings Point Park in Great Neck on Sunday, August 17 from 12:30 p.m to 2:30 p.m. Volunteers were given rakes by the park rangers and assigned to a hiking trail within the park. The volunteers’ goal was to flatten out the trail by evening out the soil and wood chips on the ground and to remove stray branches. By smoothing out the ground, the trail becomes less prone to hazards, safer for hikers, and makes it easier for park rangers to navigate in their vehicles. Throughout the two hours, the volunteers aimed to improve the trail experience for their fellow community members. The AYLUS volunteers hope that the community benefits from their efforts and strive to continue with their park beautification projects weekly.
