Newtown AYLUS Volunteers at FabLab Summer Camp (17th)

On Friday, August 1st 2025, members of the Newtown Branch of Aylus volunteered at Fablab from 11:45 to 4:15. Fablab provides a summer camp that lets elementary school kids learn more about the future and the technology that they will face. This week the primary goal was geared towards video editing and 3d printing where volunteers were tasked with assisting kids with any troubles they found but at the same time also allowing them to find their own path for a solution.
Our four volunteers began at 11:45 by interacting with the kids and getting to know each one during their “free exploration”. As lunch time soon began volunteers were tasked with handing out pizza to each of the children. Following lunch the kids were split among two groups, one that would focus on video editing and creation, and another group with the goal of 3d printing. 2 volunteers stayed with the video editing and creation students and assisted them with any technological issues and questions but also provided them with ideas as well. On the other hand the two students that were tasked with supervising the 3d printing students helped students design their finishing product. Near the end volunteers cleaned up some trash left on the floor and wiped down specifically messy desks.
Overall the event was a major success with students being happy with what they built and the videos that they created, with the addition of the 4 volunteers assisting the kids with whatever trouble they had.
Members who participated were Moiz Kothawala, Aiden Ye (Lead), Ryan He, and Daniel Tang each for 4h 30 min.
