On August 9th, 2025, the Fairfax Branch partnered with Recording Audio for the Disabled (RAD) to create audiobooks for donation to non-profits supporting children with autism or learning disabilities. At the City of Fairfax Regional Library from 10 am – 12 pm, they recorded themselves reading aloud children’s books, then used an audio editing tool to edit and convert them into shareable audiobooks. Through our collective efforts, we were able to record and edit 43 books!
Later in the year, these audio files, as well as the physical books, will be sent to the organizations partnered with RAD for use in education and entertainment. We hope that these books will help support book accessibility for children with disabilities and inspire a love for learning and literature in all.
Thank you to RAD for collaborating with Fairfax AYLUS to make this event possible. We hope to continue being partners and supporters of their cause. An additional thank you to Rachel Truong (2 hours), William Tian (2 hours), Melody Cui (2 hours), Rachel Wang (2 hours), and Amber Jin (2 hours) for their involvement.
Best,
Rachel Truong
