Newtown AYLUS Members Volunteer at Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (3rd)

On August 9, 2025, four Newtown AYLUS members volunteered at the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK). TASK, located at 72 1/2, 72 Escher St, Trenton, NJ 08609, serves meals and provides other services to disadvantaged individuals in the Greater Trenton Area. TASK has a large impact on the local community and rely on volunteers to support their efforts.

Members arrived at the kitchen and got dressed in aprons, hairnets, and gloves to handle food. AYLUS members began by helping package bread and other products in takeaway bags for workers to hand out to the community. They also helped clean and tidy up the dining area, making sure the place felt welcoming. During service, members worked various jobs such as preparing meals, running the salad bar, and serving guests.

Overall, the event was a success, with guests getting food and being cared for. After the service concluded, volunteers packaged extra food and positioned it outside to serve more meals to the community. Volunteers were happy to help TASK and learned valuable leadership skills.

AYLUS members who participated were Ivan Lee (Event Leader), Zhenyi Zhang, Melinda He, and Albert Chen, all for 3 hours and 20 minutes.
