AYLUS high school student volunteers held an hour long tutoring session at Great Neck Station Library on Thursday, August 7 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Students who came to the library ranged from elementary schoolers to middle schoolers. The volunteers helped the students with various problems. Brian Zhang for instance helped an elementary student with his math and English skills. They worked on division and reading. Emma Ding and Yucheng Fu worked with another student and taught her how to set up an online account to pay her bills. They troubleshooted working with technology and Wifi. Baiyu Chen and Catherine Wang tutored a seventh grader in math. Overall, the AYLUS volunteers felt accomplished in their work and hope that the students they tutored felt the same way.
