On Saturday, 7/26/2025, members from the Newtown AYLUS Branch volunteered from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Bucks County Free Library Levittown Branch (7311 New Falls Rd Levittown, PA 19055) partnering with the library staff to assist with book organization and general upkeep of the space.
The volunteers spent their shift primarily helping the librarians, who were busy managing a high volume of returns and assisting patrons. David and Edward worked on shelving several carts of returned books, making sure everything was correctly sorted and placed. This helped free up the staff’s time to handle other responsibilities and prevented delays in getting materials back on the shelves for public use.
They also spent time cleaning and organizing the children’s section, which had been heavily used throughout the day. Books that were left out were gathered, sorted, and shelved properly. By doing so, the volunteers helped keep the space welcoming and organized for young readers and their families while relieving the librarians from having to handle that task themselves. Their support helped reduce the pressure on staff and kept the library running smoothly during a busy afternoon.
Members who participated were David Soong (event leader) and Edward Soong. Each volunteered for 2.0 hours.
