Newtown AYLUS Volunteers at FabLab Summer Camp (15th)

On Monday, July 28, 2025, members of the Newtown Branch of AYLUS dedicated their time from 11:45 AM to 4:15 PM volunteering at the FabLab Center (One Ivybrook Blvd Suite 190, Warminster, PA 18974, USA). FabLab is a STEAM learning center where children and youth of all ages are able to explore various technologies and skills related to science, engineering, art, and math.

Our two volunteers began the afternoon conversing and getting to know the campers during their lunch. After lunch, the campers were split into two groups, half of the campers went into a group for 3D printing with one volunteer, while the other half was in a group for stop motion with our other volunteer. The campers in the 3D printing group spent their time making a keychain design in tinkercad, while the other campers spent their time making a stop motion animation in PowerPoint. Once the activity was over, the campers had free time. During this time, the campers can build with KEVA planks or legos, use iPads for Minecraft or scratch, and fab maker studio. After free time was over, the volunteers were told to plug in all of the laptops and iPads.

The event was very successful, with students being satisfied with their own creations and progress. They also received enthusiastic help from our volunteers whenever there was a concern or technical issue.

Members who participated were Ryan He (Event Leader) and Daniel Tang, both for 4 hours.
